The album title track “Midnight in the City” was inspired by the darkened climate created when the NYC twin towers fell on 9/11/2001. Red was challenged by a fellow artist to write lyrics and music that would express the indescribable feelings of that time: a song that would give voice to the silenced.

Street markers for the subway trains
But the cold hearts are burning the night
Crying out for a vigilant reign

Asking questions, search for answers
From the leaders, nowhere in sight

On Bleeker Street and Time Square

The skyline looks different tonight
The evening news is putting the show
'bout a soldier who'll never know
the reason, he had to die

Darker than an abandoned train
Homeless sleeps down with the hungry rats
Searching for someone to blame

And Lady Liberty commands the night
Her torch lights up the sky
But the silent and the lonely
Are left stranded in the dark
